Dear Colleagues,

As the Board of Trustees prepares to assume governance of the University of Oregon on July 1, we are pleased to announce that Angela Wilhelms is joining the university as Secretary of the University.

Ms. Wilhelms brings a depth of experience in legal, policy, governance, and communication issues to the position.  As board secretary she will work closely with the Board of Trustees to support its work to govern the University of Oregon, and will work with the Office of the President to advance the collective goals to serve the students and the state of Oregon as a high quality public research university.

Ms. Wilhelms was most recently with the law firm of Dunn Carney of Portland where she specialized in comprehensive government affairs services, focusing on local, state, and federal policy and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Dunn Carney, Ms. Wilhelms worked in the Oregon State Legislature as chief of staff in the House Minority Office and the House Co-Speaker’s Office. Before her time at the state capitol, Ms. Wilhelms served as a press secretary in Washington, D.C. and an independent consultant, advising political leaders and trade associations on policy, strategy, and communications. She earned a Master of Business Administration and a law degree from Willamette University, and a Bachelor of Finance degree from Santa Clara University.
