UO Search for University Secretary

The University of Oregon has launched a search for a university secretary and advisor to the president.

The secretary provides general management and coordination of the Broad of Trustees including meeting preparation, records retention, relationship building, and strategic planning. They are the custodian of university policies enacted by the board or the president of the university. The secretary also serves as a senior advisor and administrative staff member to the president, managing projects and initiatives, providing strategic counsel, and representing the president as directed. 

The initial review of applications begins on June 4, 2024.

The search committee is chaired by Jamie Moffitt, senior vice president for finance and administration.

Job summary

The university secretary and advisor to the president is a senior administrative position and an officer of the university. The secretary is responsible for high-level and confidential facilitation and coordination of the activities of the Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon, including strategic planning, meeting preparation, staffing, and managing relationships between the board and university administrators. The secretary ensures compliance with public meetings laws, attends all meetings of the board and its committees, makes and retains custody of the records of the proceedings of the board and its committees, and provides for the general management and coordination of board activities. The secretary is the custodian of university policies enacted by the board or the president of the university. The secretary also serves as a senior advisor and administrative staff member to the president, managing projects and initiatives, providing strategic counsel, and representing the president as directed.
