    Academic Units and Schools

    The Provost’s Council develops any proposals for academic modification, based data and shared criteria. The Provost Council and AMAC continue meetings. Business process savings initiative and advisory group convenes. Academic Modification proposals are shared with AMAC and iterated in multiple meetings.

    Vice Presidents reporting to President Scholz create budget scenarios, including 5%, 10% and 15% reductions. These are for data-gathering purposes only.

    Enterprise Business Processes

    Finance and Administration is actively examining opportunities for savings in business processes, specifically in Accounting, HR, and other services where greater efficiency could deliver savings.

    Academic Units and Schools

    The Provost Council (which includes all Deans and vice-provosts) evaluates possible modifications to academic programs or offerings as well as budget reduction scenarios (for example 5, 10%, 15%). The information gathered through these scenarios can reveal possible cross-unit savings and prevent units from reducing their budgets in isolation from effects on other units. Criteria and guiding principles are set.

    Vice Presidents meet with the executive leaders to discuss tradeoffs, opportunities and other factors, answer questions and receive feedback.  

    Enterprise Business Processes

    An Advisory group made up has been created to help inform proposals for enterprise-level savings opportunities identified by the Business Processes work.

    Budget proposals will be made public at the Senate meeting on October 28 and posted online at or shortly after that meeting.

    AMAC gathers community input throughout November. Feedback is encouraged. Submit your idea to budgetideas@uoregon.edu.
