• The university has launched a search for a new university secretary as Tim Inman prepares to leave the UO in July.
• I am writing to inform you that we have reached an agreement with student demonstrators. As a result, the students have announced that they will voluntarily remove the encampment by 9:00 p.m. this evening, May 23, 2024.
• The Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management leaves in July to become the next president of St. Mary’s College of California.
• Today marks day 12 of the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment.”
• The last nine days have been marked by the expression of strong convictions following the establishment of an unauthorized tent encampment last Monday.
• President Scholz delivered the following remarks to the University Senate on May 1, 2024 addressing free speech, safety and current events.
• The University of Oregon’s search for a permanent vice president for student life will soon move into the finalist stage, and the search committee invites you to save dates to meet the finalists during their campus visits the week of May 6.
• I am thrilled to announce that Christopher P. Long, dean of the College of Arts & Letters and the Honors College at Michigan State University (MSU) and professor of philosophy and MSU Research Foundation Professor, will join the University of Oregon as provost and senior vice president.
• The Associated Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) and the Office of the President invite you to attend a student listening session with President Scholz in April. All students are encouraged to join the discussion.
• It was one year ago, almost to the day, that this board entrusted me with the responsibility of leading this incredible university. With more than eight months as president of the University of Oregon now under me, I would like to take this opportunity to share some of what I’ve learned.
