Review panel invites campus to second listening session on responding to sexual assault

Mary Deits, Chair of the President’s Review Panel, the the following email inviting campus to a second listening session:

September 9, 2014

Dear Campus Community,

The President’s Review Panel is returning to campus next week as we continue our review of the University of Oregon’s practices to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct.

Thank you to everyone who participated in last month’s campus listening session focusing on prevention and to those who provided comments on the web form. Your input and perspectives provide important insights and will help form our recommendations for improving campus practices.

We invite all members of the campus and community to participate in a second listening session to be held on Tuesday, September 16 at 12:30 p.m. in the Lillis Business Complex, Room 182.

The first session helped frame the discussion around prevention. The Sept. 16 session will focus on the university’s response to sexual misconduct. Two additional listening sessions will be scheduled in the first week of October when faculty and students are back on campus for fall term. We will provide more information about those sessions once we have finalized the times and locations.

If you cannot or do not want to participate in the public listening session, or would like to provide additional information, we encourage you to offer your input in writing by submitting a comment card at one of the public listening sessions or through a web form.

We will also continue to update the President Review Panel website with information about the panel’s review, resource documents and announcements.

Again, we thank everyone who is helping the panel members learn about the UO’s practices. The success of our report and our recommendations depends on the panel hearing a broad range of perspectives.

Sincerely,

Mary Deits
Chair, President's Review Panel
