• I am pleased to share that the University of Oregon will join the Big Ten Conference in August of 2024, and thrilled we have the opportunity to join the nation's preeminent academic-athletic conference.
• I am thrilled to have arrived on campus and to begin serving as your president. Please join me at a meet-and-greet reception Wednesday, July 12, at 3:30 p.m., on the EMU Green.
• The UO will continue to seek to attract and retain underrepresented and underserved students while providing them with equitable and inclusive access to higher education.
• As the 2022–23 academic year comes to a close, we have much to celebrate. In a few short weeks, incoming President Karl Scholz will begin his tenure, and we share in his excitement to lead the UO into its next ambitious era.
• We are writing to provide an update on the University of Oregon’s efforts to create a workplace climate that fosters equity, inclusion, and belonging—with the goal that every individual can achieve and thrive.
• The University of Oregon has launched a national search for a new Vice President for Advancement. The vice president will take the helm of an organization that has resulted in some of the most significant philanthropic gifts in higher education and that inspires its large, passionate and engaged stakeholders for an institution that is focused on delivering on the value of higher education at the highest level.
• The University of Oregon has launched a national search for a new Vice President for University Communications. Reporting to the University President, the Vice President will serve as the chief communications officer for the university, leading and managing internal and external communications and marketing strategy, execution, and evaluation.
• May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In recognition, I want to acknowledge the stress and anxiety many in our university community experienced during the last few years and may still be experiencing. It is important that we all get the help we need to deal with these challenges. To that end, I want to make sure you are aware of services and resources we have to support you.
